Grow from my best Pro
Start a Strategy Miner search from the strategies you already saved, score them again with every run, and let parts that passed before be picked more often.
This feature is part of Pro.
A normal search starts from random combinations every time. With Grow from my best (Pro), the search starts from strategies you already have, so each run builds on the last one instead of starting over. The starting strategies and their variations are scored again on the price data of the run, against the same checks as every other candidate.
The box is off by default. Without Pro it does not appear.
Turn it on
-
Open the Strategy Miner with a Pro account.
-
Choose the Symbol and Timeframe. Growing works from strategies saved for the same Symbol and Timeframe.
-
Tick Grow from my best next to Generate.

The Grow from my best box, ticked. -
Click Generate.
What it does
The Miner builds the run from three things.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Starting points | It reads the top strategies in your vault for the same Symbol and Timeframe, ranked by profit factor and meeting your minimum trades. It takes up to 12 of them. With Keep going until I stop it, the strategies that passed in the previous round are added. |
| Fit | Only strategies that fit the current settings are used (direction, parts, advanced settings and volume data). The others are skipped. |
| New trials | Part of the first group of trials are the starting strategies themselves and variations of them: a part swapped, a condition added or removed, or a nearby number. After that the search goes on as usual. |
| Parts | Parts that appear often in the strategies that passed are picked more often when new conditions are built. Parts that never appeared keep a lower chance, so the search does not narrow to a few parts. |
Variations are not trusted because they come from a good parent. They pass the same stages as every other candidate, from the search period to the later period, other symbols and the robustness re-check. Ones that repeat what your vault already holds are skipped.
In a continuous search each round uses the strategies that passed in the rounds before as starting points and scores them again. A starting strategy is kept only if it passes the checks again. The Miner does not carry a result over from an earlier run.
The summary line
After a run, the summary says what happened.

- “Grew from 2 earlier strategies: 3 of the 3 kept come from them.” says how many starting strategies were used and how many of the candidates kept come from them (the starting strategy itself, a variation, or a later descendant).
- “No earlier strategy fitted these settings, so this run started from scratch.” appears when the vault has nothing for this Symbol and Timeframe, or nothing that fits the settings.
What is saved
Growing adds no new kind of data. Candidates that pass are saved to your vault like any other run, and the vault is the source of the next run’s starting points. See Vault.
Limits
- Pro only. The demo does not show the box.
- It has no effect on a search with your own CSV data.
- If the vault cannot be read within 10 seconds, that run starts from scratch.
- It uses at most 12 strategies from the vault, plus the previous round in a continuous search.
- Limits lists the vault size and the other limits.
Growing does not guarantee better candidates. Results come from past data and say nothing certain about the future. Judge each candidate by the later period and the other checks.
